FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner says the county jail in Fargo is overwhelmed with inmates, so many in fact that some inmates have had to be sent to other jails miles away. He says it’s the worst capacity problem in more than two decades.
Another sixteen inmates are in the community supervision program, those with light sentences not considered a safety risk, who are at their homes and monitored constantly by deputies. Four more are at the State Hospital in Jamestown.
Sheriff Jahner says a solution is coming. A $32 million pod expansion is being built but won’t be completed until early 2025.
