FARGO, N.D. (FPD) – The Red River Valley Bomb Team determined the device located in Fargo was not an explosive.
The Fargo Police Department (FPD) thanked the public for avoiding the area. The area is now back open to the public. Thanks to the Red River Valley Bomb Team for their prompt response to resolve the situation. FPD also thanked the Fargo Fire Department, Sanford Ambulance and BNSF Police for their assistance. Once again there is no threat to the public.
The initial news release issued by the Fargo Police Department is below.
“For safety reasons, The Fargo Police Department is asking all members of the public and all members of the media to avoid the area of Main Avenue and Broadway as officers deal with a potential improvised explosive device.
Individuals are asked to stay out of the area bound by 8th Street, NP Avenue, 4th Street and 1st Avenue South. The FPD advises anyone in a building in this area to shelter in place.”
