In a press released issued Tuesday Valley City Activities Director Rob Hunt announced the appointment of Jim McDaniel as the new head coach for the Valley City Hi-Liners Boys Basketball Team. McDaniel will replace Ty Terry who coached the Hi-Liners for one season and had a 2-21 record in the 2022-2023 season.

McDaniel expressed his enthusiasm about the appointment, “I am absolutely thrilled to be named the new Boys Basketball Coach for the Hi-Liners. This is such an exciting time for Hi-Liner Basketball, and to have the chance to lead this team as we embark on this journey into the new 3-class system is something very special.”

As part of the press press release, Hunt highlighted the reasons why the school decided to hire McDaniel for the vacated position. “With more than three decades of experience in education, over two decades of dedicated basketball coaching, and nine years of officiating basketball, Jim McDaniel brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective to our program.”

The regular season for the Hi-Liner’s boy’s basketball season will begin on December 12th with a matchup against former Class B powerhouse Central Cass.
