Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes were unable to wrap their regular season up with a win on senior night as they fell in four sets to the Medina-Pingree/Buchanan Thunder (25-27, 27-25, 25-20, 25-21).

The match started with MPB jumping out to an early 10-5 lead in set 1. It would then be back and forth scoring till 25-25 when Oakes would get set point at 26-25. They would then win the set 27-25.

Set 2 was all Thunder for most of the set as they would get a 20-7 lead. Oakes would use a timeout and rally to go on a 17-4 point run to tie it up at 24-24 fighting through 5 set points to get there. MPB would be stalled out on another set point to make it 25-25 but they wouldn’t miss out on their next opportunity to win the set winning 27-25.

Set 3 saw Oakes jump out to an early lead that they would not be able to hold. Oakes would have a 3 point lead at 13-10 which would evaporate when the Thunder tied it at 14-14 and then take the lead which they would hold for the rest of the set as they would march to a 25-20 victory.

Set 4 once again saw Oakes get to an early lead as they would score 4 of the first 5 points. MPB would tie it back up at 9-9 but that would change quickly when the Tornadoes would score the next 5 to take a 14-9 lead. That would be the last run the Tornadoes would have however as the Thunder would take the lead back at 15-14 and not relinquish it for the rest of the set eventually winning 25-21.
