VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com, photo courtesy of VCSUVikings.com) Another week, another award for Viking setter Sadie Hansen.
Hansen, and teammate JayCee Richter, picked up North Star Athletic Association awards for setter, and defensive player, of the week after sweeps of Dickinson State and 12th-ranked, and defending national champion, University of Jamestown last week.
Hansen, a junior from Oakes, ND, had 70 assists in two matches last week. She netted 31 in the win over the Bluehawks, and 39 in the sweep of the Jimmies. Hansen is now fourth in the nation in assists per set, averaging 11.49 assists per set.
The award was the seventh consecutive NSAA Setter of the Week award for Hansen.
Richter, a sophomore from Linton, ND, recorder a season-high 30 digs against the Jimmies, and 12 more versus the Bluehawks. It was Richter’s third time capturing the award this season.
The Vikings are now 19-4, 6-1 in NSAA play, and travel to Mayville State Wednesday night. The match will be broadcast on KOVC, with pregame coverage at 5:30 PM.
