The GPAC announced today this week’s Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week and Ellie Holen of the University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team was named one of the 3 players.
Holen is a senior defensive specialist for UJ hailing from LaMoure, North Dakota. According to the announcement from the GPAC “Holen averaged just shy of 10 digs per set as the 12th-ranked Jimmies split a pair of matches last week. She had 32 digs and five assists in a four-set win over No. 9 College of Saint Mary, while earlier in the week posted 37 digs in a loss to (RV) Valley City State.”
Holen leads the team in digs with an impressive 570, to put it into perspective that is 6.63 digs a set. Holen also has contributed with services aces as well this season with 16 which is good for 5th on the squad. She also leads 4th on the team in assists with 65. She has been making an impact this season and this week’s honor represents that.
The UJ women’s volleyball team as a whole is finding its groove after picking up a 3-1 win over #9 College of Saint Mary (Neb) back on Saturday. Before that, they did lose on the road to Valley City State University 0-3 but did beat ( at the time ) #10 Midland University 3-0 back on 10/7. UJ currently is ranked #12 and has a 17-7 overall record with a 10-1 conference record. The Jimmies are also 5-0 at home this season but will be on the road in their next match against Briar Cliff (Iowa) University at 7:30 p.m.
