VALLLEY CITY N.D. (Submitted)- The Hi-Liners finished their season on Friday at the EDC individuals tournament. On the singles side both Miles Taylor and Quin Kruger earned victories in singles play, while the team of Kellen Westman and Colin Hoff won one match in the doubles draw.

Opening Round:

Cole Haugen lost to #9 Tang (GFRR) 6-1, 6-0

Quin Kruger lost to #3 McCormick (FD) 6-0, 6-2

#10 Miles Taylor defeated Saunders (Shan) 2-6, 6-4, 6-3

Kellen Westman/Colin Hoff defeated Wetterlin/Bergee (WF) 6-2, 3-6, 6-2

Matthew Holm/Emery Olson lost to Rexin/Aslakson (WFS) 6-0, 6-1

Second Round:

#10 Taylor lost to #7 Heick (WFS) 6-3, 6-0

Westman/Hoff lost to #1 Christensen/Durrani (WFS) 6-0, 6-0

First Round Consolation:

Haugen lost to Lehr (WF) 6-2, 6-1

Kruger defeated Gadberry (FS) 6-2, 6-0

Holm/Olson lost to #8 Ling/Du (GFC) 6-0, 6-0

Second Round Consolation:

Kruger lost to Sandvick (FD) 6-2, 6-1

#10 Taylor lost to Smith (WFS) 6-2, 6-0

Westman/Hoff lost to #8 Ling/Du (GFC) 6-2, 6-0

 

Head Coach Matt Nielson reflected on the growth of his young team during this season.

“We learned so much this season and gained a lot of valuable experience. Next year, we will have everyone back as we didn’t have a senior on the team. Also, we will only have one varsity senior in Miles which means we will continue to gain experience with our underclassmen.”

“I am proud of how this team persevered, how they continued to grow throughout the season, and how they gave it their best on reaching our Hi-Liner pillars. Thanks to the player for being so coachable with great attitudes. And thanks to the parents and families for believe in our coaching staff and our philosophy.”

The State Championship Tournaments for both Singles and Doubles will be October 12th-14th, in Grand Forks.
