Lisbon, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The trenches stalled out in Lisbon on October 6th. With the #3 spot in Region 1 on the line neither team wanted to give ground throughout the entire game. The Tornadoes were the team to breakthrough in the end to win the game 18-6.

The game started with an opening play interception as Blayson Dolney was put under pressure in the opening drive for the Tornadoes before trying to find a player in the middle only to be intercepted by Blaze Reinke who would bring the ball to the 10 yard line of Oakes. That is when Oakes’ defense slammed shut not allowing Lisbon any closer and even pushing them back to the 20. The rest of the half was stalled drive after stalled drive as both defenses wouldn’t give up much of anything. The first score would happen on a screen pass to Mario Garza who would run into the end zone on the 57 yard td reception to give Oakes the 6-0 lead. The following drive would see Carter Ptacek intercept Wyatt Olson to end the half and end the late comeback.

The 3rd quarter saw dueling 3 and outs as both teams put on a defensive clinic. The next score wouldn’t happen till midway through the 4th quarter. The Tornadoes would march down the field after several big runs from Trey Skoglund and Garza. The drive would end with a 1 yard reception to Skoglund to give the Tornadoes a 12-0 lead with 6:00 left in the game. The next drive saw an 84 yard touchdown reception to Cam Opp to cut the lead in half with 5:13 left. Oakes would strike back however as a crazy play in which Dolney was almost sacked found Max Walock in the middle of the field, surrounded by Broncos. Walock would then deke and dodge his way to the endzone for a 27 yard touchdown reception to give the Tornadoes the 18-6 lead with 2:56 left. Oakes would stop Lisbon on the following drive to win the game.

The Bank North Player of the Game for Oakes was Mario Garza while for Lisbon it was Cam Opp.
