VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Public School Board met in executive session during a special board meeting to receive legal consultation from the school district’s attorney on Thursday, October 5th.
After the executive session, the school board discussed in open session the school district tax levy for the 2023-2024 school year. The school board subsequently voted to approve an amended district budget and tax levy following recommendations from Superintendent Josh Johnson.
Johnson said the school district will continue to work with legal counsel and request a collaborative effort with the county auditor, state’s attorney, and county commission to determine the correct legal process to refund taxpayers for a portion of the building fund over levy correctly.
