Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes ran away in sets 1 and 2 against the Griggs-Midkota Titans to claim a 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-21) victory and pick up their 3rd District 5 victory as the season nears a close.
Set 1 was all Tornadoes as they jumped out to an early lead and just kept building onto it. The Titans were unable to meet the Tornadoes at the net or get through the Tornado blockers as Oakes rolled to a 25-10 Set 1 win.
Set 2 saw Oakes keep the momentum as they would jump out to an 16-3 lead early. Griggs-Midkota would fight back but it wouldn’t be enough as Oakes would dominate their way to the 25-12 win.
Set 3 was much closer. The set would see 2 lead changes and 12 ties as neither team was able to get a solid punch with points being scored in a back and forth manner. The Tornadoes would eventually take the lead late off the back of Ann Muggli and Lily Thorpe and they would win the set 25-21.
The Bank North Player of the Game was Bethany Harris as she had a great night of sets with 14 Set Assists and 7 digs.
The Tornadoes rise to 3-2 inside of the District and will play for the #3 or #2 spot next Tuesday in Carrington. First they play on Thursday Oct 5th in Richland with Pregame on KDDR the Tornado starting at 6:45 and the game starting at 7:oo.
