Despite coming in on a seven game losing streak the Hi-Liners had put together impressive performances during that time that would finally pay off with a win on Tuesday in straight sets.

For Valley City it was the unusual suspects early on that carried them as Sophomore Kadie Kocka, Senior Hadley Thoreson and Eighth Grader Brynn Lueck all stepped up to give the Hi-Liners some early breathing space in the first set. The Hi-Liners would waste no time getting themselves out in front as they put the first set away 25-15.

The second would be a battle of attrition as both team struggled to get into a grove early with the score being tied 15-15 late in the set. Valley City would eventually create some separation leading 24-21 coming out of a time out. It would be Senior Addy Kvilvang that would end things in the second as a big blast split the Central wall to give the Hi-Liners a 25-21 second set win.

In the third set Valley City would race out to a big 20-9 lead before the Knights used another late rally to make it 24-20 with the game on match point. The Hi-Liners though would allow the game to proceed no further as they buckled down and drove the winning point home to pick up the third set 25-20 on their way to a straight set win.

With the win the Hi-Liners now improve to 3-8 with their next set of game coming up October 6th and 7th at the Metro Volleyball Invite at Fargo North High School.
