VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The school board at Valley City Public Schools approved four recommendations that were presented as part of their continued school facilities planning on Wednesday, September 20th.
Superintendent Josh Johnson highlighted four important recommendations and also included the full document that was presented to the school board. In addition, He said, “I’ve included a letter that was submitted to the ND Legislative School Funding Task Force Committee on behalf of our school construction coalition. I’m pleased to say that our coalition has been granted an opportunity to present to this committee this fall. A more comprehensive communication to you will be forthcoming and will provide more explanation and detail on the recommendations and the newly created school construction coalition in North Dakota.”
  1. Support the efforts of the school construction coalition to propose state school construction funding.
  2. Support the school construction coalition to engage with legal representation to research, identify, and study school facility inequities in North Dakota.
  3. Consider calling for a vote of the residents of the school district in June 2024 to increase the building fund allowable levy from 10 mills to 20 mills.
  4. The district will consider limiting the allocation of funds to the Jr./Sr. High School Building (1919-1970s) for only required needs including general operations, safety/security, health/wellness, and coded requirements.
