JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Chamber) – Frontier Village in Jamestown has put a bow on the 2023 summer season.
Over 131,000 visitors stopped at the Frontier Village from all 50 states and over 30 countries between Memorial Day and September 17th, the last day of operation for the year.
Jamestown Tourism manages the Frontier Village on behalf of the City of Jamestown. Visitor Experience Manager Allison Limke was a driving force in the operations and upkeep of the site all summer long. One of the biggest tasks was preparing the General Store for visitors. Unique Jamestown-related merchandise, area produced products, and hard-dipped ice cream were the highlights in its operation. “We sold almost 700 gallons of ice cream at the General Store this summer,” Limke stated. “That is about 8.4 tons or roughly one-eighth of the World’s Largest Buffalo!”
Other additions to the Frontier Village included a new wooden train set, two new characters to round out the Frontier Village cast, a flagpole (sponsored by the All Vets Club) right next to the path of the World’s Largest Buffalo as well as native prairie plant species installed along the pathway. While the site is now closed for the season, Limke is already setting her focus on 2024 and the potential for new experiences at the Frontier Village.
“We are working to add a Cast of Character’s Hunt activity for kids, updating the railroad gate house and turning it into a playhouse sponsored by the Jamestown Rotary Club, and adding food truck parking spots to offer some food options to our visitors,” Limke says. She added that Jamestown Tourism is also working to raise money for a new playground. “We are at nearly two-thirds of our goal with a great deal of community buy-in and support,” Limke
says. “We would welcome any more donations to help assist us in making this new playground a reality.”
