VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Barnes County Public Library is excited to announce a visit by former North Dakota resident and author Elizabeth Raum.
Raum turned to writing after a career as a teacher and librarian. She writes children’s books primarily for ages 8-12. Most of her books explore how people lived in a different time or place and fit into the genres of historical fiction or nonfiction. One of her recent books titled Storm Warning takes place in Ada, Minnesota and Fargo, North Dakota during the floods of the year 1997. It was selected as A Junior Library Guild Gold Star Selection and was featured in the 2022 “Red River Valley Kids Read” regional reading event list. Many of her other books have received praise and awards as well.
During her visits, she strives to motivate kids to read, to encourage writing, to give insights on how an author works, and to highlight the value of research. Ms. Raum will be at the VCBC Public Library (410 Central Ave. N.) on Thursday, September 21 from 4:30 to 5:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room. She will have a selection of her books available for purchase.
