In what was probably the best team performance of the year by Valley City the H-Liners came up just short against Red River losing in four sets with the final two sets being decided each by a final score of 25-23.

The first set was a tight affair with both sides trading points early on. But in the latter stages of the first set it would be Red River Sophomore Lizzy Kunz that carried the Riders to the early 25-17 win coming up with multiple big kills. Most of the separation in that first set came after Hi-Liner Senior Addy Kvilvang completed her service with Red River wasting no time taking advantage of their size in the middle.

But in the second set it would be Kvilvang service that carried them to the win as the outside hitter tandem of Jovi Borg and Kadie Kocka would help establish a lead in the mid-part of the second set that would not be relinquished as the Hi-Liners would take the second set 25-16. With the absence of Bailey Leroux Sophomore Dacota Potratz saw some more floor time coming up with a hand full of kills.

The third and fourth sets unfortunately for Valley City would play out very similar with the same result both times. Neither side could be separated in the early stages of each set, with a late run by Red River giving them just enough breathing space to hold on for a 25-23 set win.

The next game for Valley City will come against Shanley on Thursday at home at 7:00pm.
