NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A 63-year-old Jamestown man was killed in a plane crash in a cornfield 5 miles south of New Rockford.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the plane hit an electrical wire and crashed around 12:30 on Tuesday afternoon. The Air Tractor Agriculture plane was spraying a sunflower field on the east side of Highway 281. The pilot was flying west after spraying a pass and hit an electrical wire with the plane’s tail fin, the pilot lost control and crashed.
The pilot died at the scene.
The name of the pilot has not been released.
The crash is under investigation by the FAA.
