Hillsboro, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes got the win against the Hillsboro-CV Burros during the Burros Homecoming. The final score would be 21-0.
The game started out steady with both teams having quick first drives. The Tornadoes would then make a slow and steady drive down the field to get the first points off of a Mario Garza 4 yard run to make it 8-0 after the 2pt conversion.
The Tornadoes would score on their following drive in the next quarter they would convert on 4th down for a 7 yard touchdown catch from Beau Thorpe to Max Wolock to make it 15-0. They would again threaten late in the half but Kaden Kozojed would pick of Thorpe with under a minute to give the Burros a shot at getting on the board. However Chris Titus would pick off Dylan Mitzel to end any HCV threat and end the half.
The 3rd quarter saw the Tornadoes get one more touchdown from a 5 yard run by Trey Skoglund to make it 21-0. After that the rest of the game was a slow grind of running the ball and 4 and outs by both teams. The final score would be 21-0.
The Bank North Player of the Game was given to Mario Garza for a great night rushing and having several sacks as well.
The Tornados rise to 2-1 inside of Region 1 and 3-1 overall while HCV falls to 2-3 in both Region and Overall play.
