JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – According to the Jamestown Fire Department, a kitchen fire at a residence in Jamestown resulted in the displacement of one person.
Lieutenant Sheldon Mohr reported that 17 firefighters and five fire trucks responded to the incident at 709 7th St. NW after the homeowner alerted authorities at 6:31 p.m last night. By the time crews arrived the fire had already consumed the kitchen area.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze and conducted thorough checks for any remaining hot spots. The extent of the damage was described as “significant,” and the American Red Cross offered assistance to the displaced resident.
In addition, one firefighter sustained a minor injury.
The firefighters remained on the scene for approximately ninety minutes, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
