THOMPSON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) McKade Zink picked off Drew Overby four minutes into the first quarter and ran 78-yards for the pick six to put Carrington up 6-0 and they never looked back as they cruise to the 45-15 win over the Thompson Tommies Friday night in Class 11A Region 2 High School football action. Carrington is now 3-1 overall and in the region, Thompson falls to 1-3 overall and in the region.
The Cardinals scored two more times after Zink’s pick six, QB Josh Bickett would score on a quarterback sneak on first and goal late in the first quarter, then Logan Weninger would score a TD on fourth down early in the second quarter, rushing in from 37-yards out. Thompson scored their first TD of the game with about three minutes left to play in the first half, Overby connected with Karter Peterson for a 7-yard TD reception. There would be two more TD’s before halftime, one by Weninger of Carrington and one by Brody Gibson of Thompson. Carrington led 30-15. The Cardinals would score the last two TD’s of the game, one by Corbin Clifton and Bickett connected with Wide Receiver Grady Shipman.
Weninger had two TD’s, he now has eight for the season.
