JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On Tuesday, September 5th, the Jamestown City Council reached a unanimous decision to grant authorization for the city attorney to begin drafting a purchase agreement for a property located in the southwest area of Jamestown, with a proposed acquisition cost of $900,000. Additionally, the council mandated that city staff commence planning for the demolition of certain structures while repurposing others in the northeast region of the city.

Upon successful execution of the purchase agreement by both parties, the City of Jamestown will gain ownership of the properties situated at 1604 and 1620 8th Ave. SW and 1509 9th Ave. SW, formerly occupied by Titan Machinery.

The City Council has directed city staff to devise plans for the demolition of buildings along Railroad Drive East, in addition to the rehabilitation of a 265-by-65-foot building. This city-owned property on Railroad Drive East encompasses multiple structures and was formerly home to LeFevre Sales.

A rough estimate of approximately $437,000 has been provided for the demolition of the buildings, installation of new doors, rain gutters on one side, the incorporation of four overhead doors, and other necessary work on the 265-by-65-foot building.

Additionally, a new access right-of-way off of 3rd Street Southeast will be established to facilitate access to the properties along Railroad Drive.
