FARGO, N.D. (Air Museum) – The Northern Planes Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI) has announced a free program offered to local children ages 8 to 18 years to introduce youth to the possibilities available in a career in aviation. The Girls In Aviation Day activities take place at the Fargo Air Museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023. More than 100 girls along with their chaperones are expected to attend.

“We want our local girls to see that there are exciting careers available to them in the Fargo area as engineers,
astronauts, aircraft maintenance technicians, pilots, dispatchers, air traffic controllers, and dozens of other jobs
within the aviation community,” says WAI Northern Planes President, Kate Feitel. “We will introduce the girls to
local aviation groups and educate them in a fun and supportive atmosphere at the museum.”

The Northern Planes Chapter will join Women in Aviation International chapters around the world on September
23rd for an outreach event to inspire the next generation of women in aviation. Chapters all over the world are
hosting their own, unique programs. Attendees will be able to participate in hands-on activities, meet women
working throughout the aviation and aerospace industries, and more.

More information and registration links can be found on the WAI Northern Planes Facebook page, please register ahead of time. The first 100 kids will receive a fun activity kit. “The program is free for participants and their chaperones,” added Kate Feitel. “We just want to see girls interacting with positive role models within their community and considering aviation as they make their college and career plans.”
