Valley City N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—- The Valley City boys dropped a close contest yesterday against Wahpeton 5-4 as the boys managed to even up singles play at three game apiece before the Huskies would seal things with two wins in doubles action. On the JV side of things Valley City did manage to take wins in six of the seven contest.
Last Friday in the Quad Tourney, Wahpeton won the top four singles against the Hi-Liners without dropping a set. Yesterday, Valley City won in #4 singles and also pushed #3 singles to a third set showing good improvement from a young squad.
Head Coach Matt Nielson after leading the girls squad to a state tournament appearance and a induvial doubles title shared what the opposing coaches said about his young squad.
“The opposing coaches talked to me after the match saying what great kids we have in tennis as they play hard, play fair, and have excellent sportsmanship. I agree with their assessment and I’m proud of this group of great young men.”
The next outing for Valley City will be Tuesday September 5th as they’ll be on the road to take on Jamestown.
