FARGO, N.D. (NDHP) – On August 29th at approximately 4:00 PM a North Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a Toyota Camry on Cass County 20 near University Ave for a speed violation he observed. During the Troopers investigation, he observed the displayed license plates did not come back to the Toyota, and after running the VIN discovered the vehicle was stolen.
The vehicle was occupied by a 61-year-old driver identified as Jeffery Schmitt from Fargo, ND and a 24-year-old passenger identified as Wyatt Aurentz of Becker, MN. Aurenz had multiple must appear warrants out of Clay County, Minesota. The following charges were issued. To Schmitt 1. Schmitt A misdemeanor unlawful use of a motor vehicle
The following charges were issued to Aurentz: 1. A. misdemeanor giving False info to a law enforcement officer.
2. A. misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-Fentanyl 3. 2nd degree Burglary forced entry $10,000 must appear warrant. 4. Misdemeanor theft warrant 5. Misdemeanor fleeing warrant.
The Toyota was recovered, and the owner that reported the vehicle stolen has been notified of the recovery. The North Dakota Highway Patrol was assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
