John was born in Valley City, ND on August 22, 1956, to Orville and Mildred (Andersen)
Brendmoen. He attended Valley City Public Schools and graduated in 1974. From there, he
went on to attend Valley City State University.
John was a fun, loving person that enjoyed family, friends, and sports. Some of his favorites
would include baseball, football, and bowling. He was an avid bowler for many years. In high
school, he worked at Valley Lanes. John's passion for bowling drove him to eventually purchase
Valley Lanes with his sister and brother-in-law. Later, he went on to work at Sky Lanes as well,
continuing to do what he loved. Aside from bowling, John had a deep love for baseball. He
enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins as well as watching his grandson, Devin, play. There
were two seasons he said, “baseball season, and waiting for baseball season.” In the offseason,
he enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers.
In 1993, John started working at AAA Insurance Company doing door-to-door sales selling
insurance. He transitioned to the office later, receiving many awards for his excellent customer
service and being the top salesperson in the upper midwest. He loved his work and made
friends with many co-workers and customers. He worked with AAA until his retirement.
Above sports, work, and all, he loved his daughter, Michelle, and his grandson, Devin. He
cherished the time spent with them and his special friend, Irving.
John is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Ryan) Trzpuc, Dazey, ND; grandson, Devin Anderson
(Lena Adolf), Bismarck, ND; siblings, Brenda Stearns, Valley City, ND and Dave Brendmoen,
Bullhead City, AZ; stepchildren, Lora (Jon) Keller, Mobridge, SD; John Stringer, Fort Yates, ND,
Adam Houn, Bismarck, ND, and Kayla Turner, Chicago, IL. He also leaves many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Brendmoen and Millie Justesen and
stepfather, Ray Justesen; sister, Lynette Grieve; brothers, Larry and Lonnie Brendmoen; and
brother-in-law, John Stearns.
