The Hi-Liners wasted no time in picking up their first win of the season as they dominated all facets of the game against Turtle  Mountain picking up a comfortable 40-0 win.

Things went south very quickly for Turtle Mountain as their first possession of the game ended in a blocked punt which gave Valley City an opening drive starting at the Turtle Mountain five yard line. Three plays later a three yard touchdown pass from Bryson Heck to Jonah Harstad would stake the Hi-Liners to a 6-0 lead after a missed PAT.

Short drives would be common place for the Hi-Liners as their only drive that started in their own territory came at the start of the second half which was capped off by a Carter Borg 58-yard touchdown run. Borg had an impressive outing on the day picking up close to 90-yds of rushing to go along with two touchdowns and a sack on defense.

Defensively for Valley City Will Schwehr and Scot Rohde were the ones primarily responsible for causing severe havoc in the Turtle Mountain backfield. Rhode recorded a sack,  a fumble recovery and blocked punt while Schwehr recorded a defensive touchdown after he ripped the ball cleanly away from a Braves ball carrier and rumbled in for the defensive score.

Next up the Hi-Liners will square off with Watford City in their home opener which is set for September 1st at 7:00pm.
