The Valley City boys tennis season is about to get into action as the opening match of the season will be on Friday at 9am at Fargo North for the Quad Tournament. Opponents will include Fargo North, Wahpeton, and West Fargo in an all singles format. The EDC season will start off at home August 29th against Fargo North at 4pm.

Last seasons highlights included Kai Kringlie and Trey Cope earning 2nd place honors at the EDC doubles tournament, both Earning All-State honors, Kringlie was also named All-EDC for the second time, named co-EDC senior athlete of the year, and broke the career record for wins by a Hi-Liner boy with 75, eclipsing Blake Triebold. The Valley City boys as a team also finished 5th place at the state tournament taking how the consolation bracket crown.

The lone returning varsity player and letter winner from last years team is junior Miles Taylor. Head Coach Matt Nielson talked about how impressed he is with Taylor’s development as a leader and how crucial that leadership is to developing the next wave of Hi-Liner tennis players.

“Miles’s leadership is instrumental in helping all of our new varsity players reach their potentials in play and in our Hi-Liner pillars. Those new varsity players are sophomores Colin Hoff, Matthew Holm, Noah Tulp, and Kellen Westman, freshman Cole Haugen and Jon Koenig, and 8th graders Quin Kruger and Emery Olson.”
