VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NDHP) – A man walking on Interstate 94 about five miles east of Valley City died after he was struck by a semi on Friday, August 18th.

The Highway Patrol said at 3:03am a 2019 Freightliner was westbound on I-94 near milepost 299. The Freightliner was in the right lane. At that time, 35-year-old Cameron D. Red Bird of Bismarck was walking westbound in the middle of the right lane when he was struck by the semi. The Freightliner slowed and stopped on the shoulder facing west. Cameron Red Bird was pronounced deceased on scene. The crash remains under investigation by the ND Highway Patrol. The driver of the semi 46-year-old Chad Heller of West Fargo was not injured.

The Valley City Police Department, Barnes County Sheriff’s Office, Barnes County Fire & Rescue, Barnes County Ambulance, assisted the North Dakota Highway Patrol at the scene
