JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – At around 2:30 pm on Thursday, August 17th, in the northeastern part of Jamestown, law enforcement engaged in a pursuit resulting in the apprehension of two individuals, as reported by Maj. Justin Blinsky of the Jamestown Police Department.

Eric Lee Odegard, 29, a resident of Jamestown, was taken into custody under suspicion of failing to halt, possessing an apprehension warrant, and having marijuana in his possession, according to Blinsky. Wanda Mae Guttormson, 74, also from Jamestown, was arrested for allegedly attempting to elude a police officer.

Both Odegard and Guttormson were transported to the Stutsman County Correctional Center, where they await formal charging procedures.

Blinsky stated that the Jamestown Police Department received a report around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday regarding a man in the northeastern part of Jamestown who was wanted due to an apprehension warrant from Stutsman County. An officer from the Jamestown Police Department located Odegard near an alley within the 800 block of 13th Street Northeast.

Odegard fled on foot from the officer, then entered a vehicle driven by a family member and briefly concealed himself, as recounted by Blinsky. The officer subsequently located the vehicle, identified as a 2008 Toyota 4Runner, with Odegard departing the scene. Guttormson was driving the vehicle.

Blinsky mentioned that the officer made an attempt to halt the vehicle, but the driver refused to comply, engaging in erratic driving maneuvers over several blocks in an effort to evade arrest. Eventually, the vehicle entered a parking lot close to the 1100 block of 7th Street Northeast.

Exiting the vehicle, Odegard fled on foot, and after a short pursuit on foot near the 1000 block of 7th Street Northeast, additional responding officers successfully apprehended him, according to Blinsky. The vehicle made a second attempt to flee from officers at that location, ultimately being stopped as it exited the parking lot.

Assistance in the case was provided by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, collaborating with the Jamestown Police Department.

Blinsky noted that the Jamestown Police Department is actively investigating the incident, and the possibility of further charges remains open.
