VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Our facilities should match the quality of education we have in Valley City, that was repeated during the school district’s advisory committee meetings earlier this year.
About 80 people from the school district provided input on the future direction of school facilities.
Schools Superintendent Josh Johnson said following a two-year in-depth study of their facilities, the consensus was to build a new structure instead of renovating existing buildings.
Johnson said even if a future referendum passed by voters in the district, the $40 million dollar maximum would not be enough to build a new structure. But if it passed, he talked about the property tax increase on $300,000 property in Valley City.
Johnson said, right now, nothing has been finalized by the school board as to whether they would call for a “building referendum” or ask the state about funding options for the construction of a new school.
