Bigger walleyes can be caught right now by pulling crankbaits on Devils Lake. DEO Photo by Mike Peluso.

I’ve made the switch over to Devils Lake here for a couple weeks. One observation from here is the future of this lake is going to be great!
We are seeing tons of 10-to-12-inch walleyes mixed in with the keeper fish. It doesn’t seem to matter where you are at they are definitely around and in good numbers.
I’m also seeing a lot of perfect eater sized walleyes and those fish in the 14 to 18 inch range are plentiful. In Devils Lake fashion you can catch them any way you like to fish! Spinners with crawlers are my first choice. Bobbers and jigs set up on structure will also work well right now. If you are after bigger fish, pull cranks.
I’m going to be here for another week before heading back to Sakakawea for a couple of weeks. Summer is buzzing right along. I have some September openings if you are interested at both locations. Get ahold of me!
