The Jamestown Post 14 Eagles lost in the bottom of the 7th inning to the Bismarck Governors in the 1st round of the class “AA” state tournament 5-6.

To start the Bismarck Governors got on the board in the first inning after  Michael Fagerland hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. In the top of the second inning, the Eagles garnered back the lead after Brooks Roaldson doubled, Ethan Gall grounded out, and Tyson Jorissen doubled, each scoring one run. Then Bismarck Governors made the score 4-3 in the bottom of the second after  Isaac Mitchell singled, scoring two runs, and Tommy Kraljic doubled, scoring one run.

Then at the top of the 4th inning Mason Lunzman who had 3 hits on the day, doubled which set up a Jackson Walters home run giving the eagles back the lead 5-4.

Heading into the bottom of the 7th the Eagles were on top still 5-4, but that is when the Governors would begin their last second effort to create a come from behind victory.

First Max Vig, reached first on an error, but then Lunzman who was pitching struck out Isaac Mitchell to give the eagles their first out. The next at-bat Gavin Lill would double on a line drive to left field and that would advance Vig to 3rd base. The Eagles then decided to intentionally walk Kraljic to give themselves an opportunity for a double play. Lunzman would strikeout Noah Riedinger the next batter leading to an extremely high pressure situation. Bases loaded, bottom of the 7th inning, 1 out remaining. That is when  Carter Krueger singled on a line drive to left field on the 2nd pitch after a first pitch ball. This would advance Lill to score and win the game.
