CASS COUNTY, N.D. (CCSO) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and West Fargo Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of 6th Avenue South about 9:20am on Monday, July 24th. A caller reported a male with a gun was banging on their door. While units were responding, it was reported the male fired a gun shot inside of the apartment complex hallway. When law enforcement arrived, the male had fled the scene and officers were unable to locate the responsible party. There were no reported injuries.

At 2:20 p.m. on Monday, July 24th, law enforcement responded to an apartment complex in the 700 block of 23rd Street South. The caller reported they were assaulted by a male who later brandished a handgun and threatened to shoot the caller. Once on scene, a foot pursuit occurred after a male matching the description of the suspect fled. The male was arrested several blocks later. The victim went to a local hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.

After an investigation, Pasqual Lawia, 24, was arrested for several criminal charges and a bench warrant. A report is being sent to the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office requesting domestic violence charges for Pasquel.

Pasquel’s brother, Mark Lawia, 26, was arrested in connection with the morning shooting incident. Mark’s firearm was seized at the scene of Pasquel’s arrest. This case remains active and ongoing. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and West Fargo Police Department were assisted by Sanford Ambulance.
