(NDSU Ext.) – The Oakes Irrigation Research Site field day is scheduled for Aug 03, 2023, 8:30 am – 1 pm CDT. It’s located at 9251 Highway 1 North, Oakes, ND.

Several topics will be covered during this year’s field day at the North Dakota State University Oakes Irrigation Research Site — Robert Titus Research Farm.

Potato breeding and new variety information – Asunta (Susie) Thompson, NDSU Extension potato breeder
Dry bean varieties – Kristin Simons, Carrington REC agronomist
Soybean foliar disease concerns – Richard (Wade) Webster, NDSU Extension soybean pathologist
White mold management in soybeans – Michael Wunsch, Carrington REC plant pathologist
Spray quality for herbicide applications – Rob Proulx, NDSU Extension ag tech systems specialist
A ground breaking ceremony will be held to begin construction on a new headquarters building for the Oakes site. The new mixed-use space will contain offices, labs, community conference space, and an adjoining shop. This facility will enhance research capabilities, improve working conditions, and provide better service to south-central North Dakota..

The approximately 40-acre site, which is 4.5 miles south of Oakes on North Dakota Highway 1, is a substation of the NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center (CREC).

The field day will begin at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be served following the tour.
