LaMoure had a rocky start to their tournament as Valley City breezed to a commanding 8-0 win behind 5 shutout innings from starting pitcher Andrew Schwehr. For Valley City a lot of the spark was provided by the top of the order as leadoff man Trevor Fetsch reached three times and came around to score three times as well as Jack Samuelson finished 3-3 with three RBI’s. The Kings also got plenty of performance from down in the lineup as well as they produced an 11-hit outing as they’ll roll into the next round to take on Bottineau.

For LaMoure the game started off  rough as they surrendered four runs in the first inning as the defense struggled with mistakes committing three errors as starting pitcher Mason Warcken took the loss on the day allowing five earned runs. The top part of the order was the lone bright spot for LaMoure as Logan Potts, Colby and Gunner Theilges combined to go 5-10 with several hard hit outs that unfortunately could find their way in for hits.

The next game for LaMoure will be against Minto at 10:00am tomorrow on KDDR as they’ll look to keep their tournament hopes alive.
