OAKES, N.D. (Prairie Public Radio) – A Navy admiral who grew up in Oakes, North Dakota is visiting his home state, as part of “Navy Week” in North Dakota.

Admiral Stuart Munsch is the commander of the Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy – as well as the commander of the US Naval Forces, Europe and Africa. He says he wants to tell the Navy’s story, and how it relates to a state like North Dakota.

And Munsch says the Navy is on the front line for security for the nation.

Munsch says he’s also hoping to inspire new recruits.
