WISHEK, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The District 6 Babe Ruth baseball tournament began on July 13th. Below are the results from day one.
GAME 1: #5 Linton-Ashley-Wishek 5 – 2 Edgeley
The LAW Rattlers were able to fight back after being down early to beat Edgeley and advance to take on LaMoure. Edgeley got started with a 1st inning run but LAW would score 1 in the 3rd and 3 more in the 4th to take a 4-1 lead. Edgeley would get 1 more run in the 5th to bring the game closer but after a strange play in the 6th made it 5-2 they were unable to get any closer.
The winning pitcher in the game was Levi Keeney who went 5.2 IP with 2 BB’s, 3 K’s, 2 H’s, 2 R’s, and 1 ER. The losing pitcher would be Brady Hanson who went 6.0 IP with 7 BB’s, 2 K’s, 3 H’s, 5 R’s, 3 ER’s. Justin Bosch would get the save going 1.1 IP with 1 BB and 3 K’s.
LAW advances to take on LaMoure while Edgeley goes to the bottom bracket and will play Friday at 3:00 PM

GAME 2: Kidder County 10 – 0 Oakes (5 inn.)
Oakes was unable to get much going offensively and struggled defensively as Kidder County cruised to a 10-0 5 inning victory. Kidder would score runs in each inning with 2 in the 1st, 1 run in the next 3 innings and 5 in the 5th inning. Of those runs only 4 would be Earned Runs as Oakes would have 4 errors in the game.
The winning pitcher would be Preston Fischer who went 2.2 IP with 4 BB’s, 4 K’s, 0 H’s and 0 R’s. The losing pitcher would be Zade Heier going 3.2 IP with 6 BB’s, 6 K’s, 1 H, 5 R’s of which 2 were ER.
Oakes will play the loser of Lisbon vs Gwinner at 12:30 tomorrow. Kidder plays the winner at 10:00 AM.

GAME 3: LaMoure 1 – 5 LAW
UPSET IN WISHEK. Linton-Ashley-Wishek beat LaMoure off of a big 3rd inning. It was a pitcher duel all game long with Avery Kramer and Berkley Frantz pitching lights-out. The 3rd inning however saw LAW score 5 runs off of 3 hits and 3 errors. That inning would end up being the difference maker as LaMoure was not able to mount a comeback due to the stout LAW pitching. They would get 1 run back in the 4th off of 1 hit. LaMoure loses their first game of the regular season with this loss.
The winning pitcher was Berkley Frantz who went 5.0 IP giving up 2 H’s, 1 BB, and 1 ER. He would also have 9 K’s. The losing pitcher would be Avery Kramer who went 5.0 IP giving up 4 H’s, 2 BB’s, and 5 R, 2 ER. He’d have 6 K’s.
LaMoure will now play either Oakes, Lisbon, or Gwinner at 5:30 tomorrow. LAW will not play again till Saturday at 12:30.
