LIDGERWOOD, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes were unable to mount a comeback in both games against Lidgerwood/Hankinson (LH) losing 4-0 in Game 1 and 14-6 in Game 2.
Game 1: LH 4 – Oakes 0
The first game was a pitchers duel with 2 runs being scored off of steals of home and 2 off of wild pitches. Kaden Kelley got the nod for LH and he pitched a solid game not allowing a single hit till the 7th inning of play and only walking 3 batters. He would strike out 8 during the game as well. Max Walock had a tough first inning after giving up an infield single to Fletcher Willprecht. Willprecht would steal 2nd base and then get around a tag attempt at third on a fielders choice from Kelley. He would then steal home. Kelley would score on a wild pitch later in the inning and Gavin Christianson would also steal home to make it 3-0 after 1. No other scoring would be had till the 6th when Cruz Hernandez would triple then score off of a wild pitch.
The winning pitcher would be Kaden Kelly going 7.0 IP giving up 1 hit, 3 BB’s, and no runs, while having 8 K’s. The losing pitcher was Max Walock who went 6.0 IP giving up 3 hits, 7 BB’s, and 4 Runs, while having 5 K’s.
Both pitchers were awarded with the Bank North Player of the Game.

Game 2: LH 14 – Oakes 6
Game 2 started out much closer then how it ended. LH got started early by going after Brooks Domine, who would end up only pitching in the 1st inning, scoring 5 Runs on 2 hits and 2 Errors meaning only 2 runs were Earned Runs. Oakes would respond in by scoring 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the first with Chris Titus and Walock scoring on a Bryley Haberman double.
The Tornadoes would then score 4 more in the 2nd on 4 hits and 2 Errors meaning only 4 runs were Earned runs. That would give the Tornadoes a 6-5 lead and end the night for LH starter Matt Bladow. LH would tie the game in the 3rd inning as Erich Ebol was brought in by a Bladow single tying the game a 6-6.
Titus would begin pitching in the 2nd inning for Oakes and he’d give a good outing for 4 innings. Meanwhile Hernandez was brought in for LH in the 3rd inning and he’d be lights out for the rest of the night.
LH would then come out with an avengence in the 6th inning scoring 8 runs on 4 hits and 2 Errors to chase Titus and bring in Haberman. The Tornadoes would not be able to figure out Hernandez and the game would end 14-6.
The winning pitcher was Cruz Hernandez who went 5.0 IP giving up just 3 hits and no BB’s nor runs while striking out 8. The losing pitcher would be Chris Titus who went 4.1 IP giving up 5 hits, 5 BB’s, 7 Runs of which 6 were ER, and striking out 2.
Bryley Haberman was named the Bank North Player of the Game for going 2/4 with 3 RBI’s.
