Keith Olson, 80, Valley City, ND passed away at Mercy Hospital on July 6, 2023.  A memorial service for Keith will be at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Valley City at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 12. 

Visitation will be the hour prior to the service.  The service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.

Keith Olson was born August 1, 1942, to Oliver and Esther (Kjelland) Olson.  He was baptized at Zion Free Lutheran Church.  Keith grew up on the family farm south of Sanborn, ND.  He attended rural school and graduated from Svea High School.  In October of 1961, he joined the US Army and was discharged in October of 1967.

On July 23, 1966, he married Cheryl Boelter.  After graduating from the ND State School of Science, they moved to Minneapolis, MN where he worked for Honeywell and then as a TV repairman.

The couple returned to Valley City, ND and Keith became a partner in NW Nursery.  A year later, he purchased Bettins Flower Shop and Greenhouse.  He and Cheryl ran the business for over 45 years, retiring in 2012.

Keith enjoyed hunting, car racing, mowing grass at his son’s house and being on the Valley City Fire Department.

He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the VFW, a 50+ year member of the Eagles, and a member of the fire department for 37 years, where he was a member of the rescue squad.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.  Surviving is his wife, Cheryl; son, Jeremy; daughter, Jeri (Rob) Hofman; grandchildren, Tyler (Margo), Cody (Jenna), Kelsey (Chrissie), Mya; great grandchildren, Thor and Parker; sister, Arlene Berntson; sister-in-law, LuAnn White; and many nieces and nephews.
