Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-Hudson Schmitz tossed the second no-hitter of ,the season against New Rockford and Post 25 defeated the Blacksox 4-1. Schmitz would strikeout 8 batters but did allow 2 walks and a hit batter. Schmitz would also aid the Carrington offense with a 2 run homerun in the bottom of the third inning giving Post 25 a 3-0 lead. Schmitz finished going 1-2 with 2 RBI, run, SB, and a walk. Grady Shipman went 1-2 with 2 runs, SB, and a walk. Owen Hagel had the other hit, driving a ground rule double over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the first inning.

The Blacksox (Post 30) scored their only run of the night when Brody Weisenberger reached second base on a fielding error with 1 out in the sixth inning. Weisenberger advanced to third base and later scored on 2 past balls. Keaton Cudworth was the losing pitcher for Post 30 but had a very solid performance. Cudworth recorded 8 strikeouts, 3 walks, 2 hit batters, 3 hits, and allowed 3 earned runs. Carrington defeated the Blacksox 7-0 on June 8th behind Lucas Hendrickson’s no-hitter. Post 25 improved to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in District 4 play. Post 30 dropped to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in district play. Carrington will travel to Jamestown and compete in the 2023 Phil Brown Classic tournament 7/7–7/9 at Jack Brown Stadium. All Carrington games will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK (THE CARDINAL), FM 100.1, and www.newsdakota.com Post 25 will play at 8:00 P.M. Friday night versus the host team Jamestown Eagles (Post 14).
