Myrna McGregor, age 101, of Valley City, ND, formerly of Litchville, ND, died Thursday, June 29 th at SMP Health-St. Raphael in Valley City. A celebration of Myrna’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 10th at First Lutheran Church in Litchville, ND. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Monday morning. Inurnment will be in Litchville Cemetery. Myrna Carol Lindstrom, the daughter of Carl and Mabel (Brox) Lindstrom, was born April 10, 1922 in Litchville, ND. She was baptized, confirmed and married at First Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended school in Litchville and graduated from Litchville High School. She attended Valley City State Teachers College for two years, earned a Standard Certificate, and taught school for three years. She then moved to Washington, DC with her sister and a friend and worked for ten months as a clerk-typist in a Pentagon office. She later continued her education and graduated from the University of Minnesota. Her teaching career
continued with time spend in North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana and four years with the American Dependent School System teaching at Wethersfield, England; Wiesbaden, Germany; Ankara, Turkey and Oslo, Norway.
On June 12, 1965 she married Rex McGregor at First Lutheran Church in Litchville. They couple had one daughter, Mary Jean. Myrna was involved in her church community: she served on the Church Council, was a Sunday School Superintendent, a Stewardship Secretary of the ELCW and a longtime member of the “Sewing Ladies.” She was a 4-H Leader for many years, a member of the Litchville Homemakers Club, and served on the cemetery boards of Vikstrom, St. Thomas and First Lutheran. She was also a
member of the Valley City Retired Teachers. She served on the centennial book committees for First Lutheran Church and for Litchville and compiled an archival library of scrap books on local history. For six years she was chairperson of the Litchville Community Center committee involved with the project of converting the bowling alley building to a community center. For
several years Myrna spent winters in Mesa, AZ living in a vacation resort near her daughter and family.
Myrna is survived by her daughter Mary Schander, Gilbert, AZ; three grandchildren, Samantha, Garrett and Justin; a sister, Alice (Philip) Yainske; a brother, Ernest (Jeanne) Lindstrom; a sister-in-law, Joyce Jensen; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rex and a son in law Jeff Schander.
