VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City firefighters responded to a fire after a tree hit a power line causing arching and a small fire.

Fire Chief Scott Magnuson said city public works crews cut the tree away from the power line and firefighters put down the fire. No injuries reported. Magnuson said there was no loss of power in the city during this incident on the evening of June 28th.

A strong gust of wind may have caused the tree to hit the power line after a strong thunderstorm dumped nearly an inch of rainfall in the city.
