JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Jimmiepride.com) The Jimmie men’s soccer team is excited to announce three skills clinics for July 7th-9th. Each clinic will focus on a different aspect of skill development- Defending, Attacking and Goalkeeping.

The purpose of these clinics are to break down attributes of each type of skill set into smaller pieces and then combine them throughout the day in a way that allows participants to develop on that day of the clinic while also placing an emphasis on teaching players how to self-evaluate and have the tools needed to continue to develop outside of the clinics.

“Our goal is to provide a different type of experience for the summer than previous ID camps we’ve done,” said head coach Connor Campbell. “At times ID camps can almost feel like a rush because there is so much done at or progressing to a big scale. Our goal here is to keep things more focused so that those who participate are able to get the most instruction and development out of the sessions in a way that also gives them the tools to continue to develop those skill sets on their own in the future as well.

“With these three clinics, we will be focusing on the different pieces of the game in a manner that can benefit anyone who wants to get better at defending, attacking or goalkeeping. The defensive clinic isn’t just for defenders and the attacking clinic isn’t just for strikers, but we want to construct these in a way that can benefit all positions. Of course the goalkeeping sessions will look a bit different due to the specificity of the position, but we are very excited to run these three clinics in a way that puts a greater emphasis on the technical aspects of each
phase of play.”

The defensive clinic will be on Friday, July 7th and will be for all field players with an emphasis on controlling the pace and space of opponents, communication, and how to transition upon winning possession.

The attacking clinic will be on Saturday, July 8th and will be for all field players with an emphasis on aspects of on-ball play in the middle and final third- attacking on the dribble in a way that puts defenders on their heels and you in control, opening up passing lanes for
teammates and a breakdown of finishing form.

The goalkeeper clinic will be on July 10th and will focus on technical aspects such as footwork, efficiency of movement, set position combined with
reading cues, communication and distribution.

Each clinic will be $75 and will involve two 2-hour sessions on the day. Participants are welcome to register for multiple clinics.
