EDGELEY, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes were able to get past Edgeley in Legionball action on Tuesday June 20th by a final score of 4-3 in 9 innings.

The Tornadoes got started by popping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning scoring 2 earned runs in the inning on 2 hits. After that the game would slow down with Brogan Roney and Dylan Carlson, the starting pitchers for both Oakes and Edgeley respectively, settling into a rhythm for most of the game.

The next run would be scored in the third by Edgley with Damien Carlson scoring on a Eli Mathern single. They would score again in the fifth with Mathern getting walked in by Austin Strobel. The bases would be loaded in the fifth till Lance Hjellburg grounded into a fielders choice to end the inning. The tying run would be scored in the 7th inning after Dylan Carlson nailed a ball down the line in left for a double. He would score on the next play with Jacob Nitshke singling him in tying the game. This would end Roneys night as Blayson Dolney would come in relief. Zeke Barnick would be the next batter and get hit by a pitch. Strobel would then hit an infield single to load the bases. However Hjellburg would line out to Justin Nelson at second who’d double off Nitshke at third to end the inning.

Max Tjerland would come in relief of Carlson and he pitched a solid 8th inning however the Tornadoes would earn several walks in the ninth from James Throener and Dolney walking aboard then each stole a base to get into scoring position. Max Walock would then ground into a fielders choice to deep short to score Throener. Blayson Dolney would the game with two strikeouts to win the game 4-3.

The starting pitch for Oakes was Brogan Roney who went 6.1 IP giving up 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 5 BB’s, and 5 K’s. The winning pitcher would be Blayson Dolney who went 2.2 IP with 1 H, O R, 2 BB’s and 3 K’s. The starting pitcher for Edgeley was Dylan Carlson who went 7 IP with 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB’s, and 11 K’s. The losing pitcher would be Max Tjerland who went 2.0 IP with 0 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB’s and 2 K’s.

The Bank North Players of the Game were Brogan Roney and Dylan Carlson.

The Tornadoes are now at a 3-2 record while Edgeley falls to 3-5.
