DES MOINES, IA (NewsDakota.com) – National American Miss brands itself as a competition that is “based on the foundational principle of fostering positive self-image by enhancing natural beauty within.” Contestants compete for opportunities to represent NAM and receive scholarships.

Jamestown’s Ella Johnson as well as Lynley and Kaylyn Nadeau of Valley City competed in the National American Miss competition June 10-11 in Des Moines, IA.

Four states were represented in the competition, including North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Ella Johnson competed in this pageant and was excited to take home some trophies. She won (first place) in the Art Contest, won Top Model, won photogenic, first runner up in Miss Spirit, and won the state queen title all for her Princess age group.

Seven-year-old Lynley Nadeau competed in the Junior Pre-teen division in her first state competition. She brought home first place in Resume, first place in Top Model, first place in Runway, and first runner-up for Miss North Dakota, Junior Pre-teen.

Ten-year-old Kaylyn Nadeau competed in the Pre-teen division, also her first state competition. She was runner-up in Personality, won first place in Spirit, first place in Resume, first place in Top Model, first place in Talent, and first runner-up for Miss North Dakota, Pre-teen.

The three will be headed to Nationals for the pageant in November of 2023 in Orlando, Florida.
