VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Smith Lumber Company Home Center hosted a week long, community event featuring a vendor cook-off, live entertainment, and special savings opportunities for their patrons.

On Thursday, June 15th, Smith Lumber Company held a complementary community celebration with a food cook-off. Beverages provided by Brockopp Brewery and The Reserve at Woodland. Proceeds raised from this fun event will benefit the Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals. Big Hammer Music featuring Country Singer Songwriters Greg Hager entertained the crowd.

This was the second annual vendor cook-off event and the turnout was fantastic. Owners Tim and Brenda Durheim look forward to hosting this event once again next year.

Originally known as a coal distributor, Smith Lumber Company has evolved throughout its 100-year history and now serves the Valley City community as a one-stop-shop. They now offer a broad selection of lumber and building materials, hardware and home improvement supplies, rental tools and equipment, live plants and gardening supplies, and more. In March 2022, they completed an 11,000-square-foot expansion project, allowing them to add retail items like work clothes, farm and ranch supplies, kitchen and plumbing supplies, housewares, and toys and games.
