VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  The Valley City Post 60 Royals have won the front end of doubleheaders twice this season to open 2-2.

After winning the front end agains the West Fargo Vets Wednesday, the Royals followed with a 5-4 win over the Fargo Post 2 Jets Thursday night in Fargo.

Robert Fischer picked up the win in relief, working two innings of no-hit relief, striking out two.  Bryson Heck worked six innings in the start, allowing four runs, only one of which was earned, fanning five while walking three.

Max Mehus finished with another strong game at the plate, with three hit in five trips, scoring once and driving in a run.  Fischer drove in two runs with 1-3 performance.

Post 60 allowed 12 unearned runs in a 13-3 loss in the nightcap.  Mehus and Gavin Gerhardt each drove in runs in the loss.

Valley City travels to Kindred Tuesday, and will host the Fargo Bombers in their home opener on Wednesday.
