
MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Loboes of Lamoure/Litchville/Marion will head back to the State Class B Baseball championship game for the third year in a row after knocking off the number two seed in the tournament, Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich Cardinals 12-8 Friday afternoon at Corbett Field. Number three seeded LLM improves to 14-1 overall, LAEM suffers just their second loss of the season and are now 14-2 overall.
This semifinal game was close throughout, LLM led 5-1 heading into the bottom of the third inning, then the Cardinals scored five runs of their own and took the lead for the first time in the game 6-5. The Loboes retook the lead in the top of the fourth scoring two runs and outscored LAEM 5-2 in the final innings to secure the victory. Senior Anthony Hanson picks up the victory, 120 pitches, eight runs, seven earned, six strikeouts, eight hits, five walks and one hit batter. Connor Johnson came in to relieve Hanson after he reached his maximum daily pitch limit of 120 in the sixth inning, he worked an inning and a third, 13 pitches, no runs, two strikeouts, no hits and no walks. Markus Kingzett took the loss, five innings and seven earned runs. Theo Romfo worked two innings in relief, five runs, three earned, one strikeout and four hits.
The game was paused for about 35 minutes in the top of the third inning, after some heavy rain moved through the area.
Next up for LLM will be Saturday night in the State Class B Championship game, they will meet the Thompson Tommies for the second year in a row. The Loboes lost to Thompson last year 11-7, and Langdon Area/EM the year before.
