WEST FARGO, ND. (NewDakota.com) – Another low scoring game broke the wrong way for Jamestown on Friday night as the Blue Jays fell to Fargo North, 2-1, in the Class A State Semifinals.
The Blue Jays got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Max Fronk reached base after being hit by a pitch. Courtesy runner Adam Sortland stole second and a Payton Hochhalter infield single drove in Sortland, making it 1-0 Jamestown.
In the bottom of the third inning, the game was delayed for 30 minutes due to lightning. North responded out of the delay in the fourth with a run to tie the game and scored the only other run in the fifth to take the lead for good. North totaled a run and two hits in back-to-back innings to take the lead.
Hochhalter was handed the loss on the hill, going all seven innings and striking out two. At the plate, Hochhalter was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk. Tyson Jorissen led Jamestown by going 2-for-3 and Mason Lunzman went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Jamestown (18-5) will face Wahpeton in the third place game on Saturday afternoon with a start time scheduled for approximately 2:00 PM. Full coverage can be heard on Q101.1 FM, online at newsdakota.com, or on the Q101 app.
