DICKINSON, ND. (NewsDakota.con) – Junior Makenna Nold hit a grand slam and tossed a complete game on Saturday afternoon as Jamestown defeated Bismarck High, 4-2, in a state qualifier.

All six runs scored came during the first inning after Caitlyn Dannenfelzer of Bismarck High opened up the game with a two-run homer. The Blue Jays responded immediately in the bottom half after Ella Falk started the inning with a single. After a Rylee Joseph and Katie Falk each drew walks, Nold launched a ball over the left field wall to give Jamestown the lead for good.

Bismarck High threatened in the sixth, loading the bases before Nold struck out leadoff hitter Dru Kautzman to get through the inning. BHS went down in order in the seventh.

Nold struck out nine batters over seven innings to get the win. E. Falk and Joseph led Jamestown with two hits each. The Blue Jays had eight hits and did not commit an error defensively.

Jamestown (26-9) heads into the state tournament as the #3 seed out of the West. The Blue Jays will face Grand Forks Red River, a two seed and runner-up at the EDC tournament.
