BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School girl’s soccer team punched its ticket to Fargo and the state tournament with a 2-1 overtime victory over Bismarck Legacy.
Eighth grader Briella Martin scored in the second overtime to send the Blue Jays to the state tournament for the first time since 2021.
Lila Healy gave Legacy a 1-0 advantage with an unassisted goal in the 17th minute. Just ten minutes later, Sara Sletto tied the game at one with an unassisted goal of her own. The game remained tied at one through the rest of regulation.
Olivia Sorlie’s performance in net helped keep the match tied at one, making seven saves throughout the night. When things got tight in overtime, it was the eighth grader Martin who pushed the Blue Jays into the state tournament.
Jamestown earns the #4 seed out of the West Region and will face #1 Fargo Davies out of the East. The Jays and Eagles open up the state tournament on Thursday, June 1st at noon in Fargo.
